"Unconquerable"

A BLAST FROM THE WORD
By Sandra Rhynes

“Unconquerable”

Romans 8:37-39
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Unconquerable! Unconquerable! Unconquerable! This is what we are in Jesus Christ. As long as we stay with Him---old satan can’t touch us, he cannot conquer us, he cannot steal us, and he cannot take us out of the hand of the Lord. We are overcomers through the Blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. The 39th verse says nothing in the heavens or the earth or ANY OTHER CREATED THING can separate us from God. That is all satan is, he is just a created being---that’s all! Jesus is the only POWER, He is the ONE. Doesn’t matter what is going on around us, we are more than conquerors through the Blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus conquered death, hell and the grave. That is satan’s end---not ours. We will have life and life more abundant. We will not fear death. To be absent in this body is to be present with Christ. The transition will be in an instant, in the twinkling of an eye.

Most gracious Heavenly Father, Lord and Savior, I love you supremely. I plan to have life abundantly with you forever and ever. Stay the hand of the enemy that wants to conquer me and kill me. I have conquered satan because you have conquered satan. Praise Your Holy Name. Amen

"Not On Sunday Night"

A BLAST FROM THE WORD
By Sandra Rhynes

While searching through some old church bulletins I ran across this little poem. Thought you would enjoy it. Also, you will get a rest from my thoughts.

“Not On Sunday Night”

I love the church that Jesus bought
And know that it is right.
I go there every Sunday morning
But not on Sunday night.

I love to sing the songs of God,
Such worship must be right:
This I do on Sunday morning,
But not on Sunday night.

I love to hear the gospel too
It gives me pure delight
I hear it every Sunday morning,
But not on Sunday night.

I know I need more strength
To keep going on in this great fight,
For help I come on Sunday morning,
But not on Sunday night.

Truth can save the world
If it’s light keeps shining bright
I help it shine on Sunday morning,
But not on Sunday night.

Yes, all of us must die
I hope I’ll be doing right.
And so may I die on Sunday morning
And not on Sunday night.

"Star of Wonder"

A BLAST FROM THE WORD
By Sandra Rhynes

“Star of Wonder”

Matthew 2:2

“For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him."

Oh, the star! They were Wise Men indeed when they set themselves to enquire after Christ. They had seen an extraordinary star. They had never seen such a star before, which said to them, this was an indication of an extraordinary birth in the land of Judea. God spoke to the Wisemen by a star and to the Shepherds by angels. When we seek Him, He will come to us in ways we can understand. A divine impression was made upon their minds, as to this star being the signal given for the birth of the Christ Child. Those who truly desire to know Jesus and find Him will not regard distance, pain or perils in seeking Him. When we find Him—then---we shall know---“Where is He that is born King of the Jews?” He is the Messiah, the Savior of the world! He is the Lord of all! He is the Living Word! He is the Blessed Redeemer! What a wonderful time to give Him the best gift of all---Your Heart!

Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, I come to you with a broken heart and a contrite spirit. This heart You will not turn away. Come into my heart this day. I wait no longer to call You my Savior. Today is the day of my salvation. I worship You today. Amen

"Christmas Peace"

A BLAST FROM THE WORD
By Sandra Rhynes

“Christmas Peace”

Psalms 4:8

In peace I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, O LORD, make me to dwell in safety……..

Especially at Christmas time I think about peace, peace of mind, peace of soul, peace on earth, peace and comfort, peace, peace, wonderful peace. There is a lightness in the air and lots of love and expectancy everywhere. We have the opportunity to have the heart of a child. How wonderful to be a child again! To be light hearted and feel the love that only comes at Christmas time. It is a time for childlike faith. When we lay our heads down on our pillows at night we want peace and safety. We can have this “Christmas Peace all year, not just at Christmas time. Happiness depends on circumstances---Love, Joy and Peace depends on Christ alone. When God puts grace in our heart He puts gladness, joy and peace in our heart. All shall be made to work for good to us if we keep ourselves in the love of God.

Holy Lord, thank You for sending Your Son to be born into this world. I understand that without Christmas there would be no Easter. No resurrection or life everlasting. Thank you for dieing on the cross for my sins. I love you, Lord.

"A Son's Mother"

A BLAST FROM THE WORD
By Sandra Rhynes

“A Son’s Mother”

Luke 2:19 “But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart”

There are many thoughts in my heart today as I think about this Christmas Season. As I look at my own baby son, I think about Mary’s son born so long ago, how things were so different for her. No hospital to have her baby in, not even a house, just a lowly stable where animals were born. No bed for her baby, with comforter, bed shirt and pillow, just a bunch of dirty hay. She must have loved her baby son just as much as I do my own. And…yet…to have hers grow up and hang on a cross and to see and feel the pain with her son…I don’t know if I would be willing to see mine on a cross even if my heart had already been prepared for this. I am too human to have gone through with it. Many times we have to put our feeling aside to follow the will of the Lord. I shudder to think how things might have been if Mary would have said no to God. He knew just who to pick for the great task of bringing one small boy into the world, one small boy to grow up and become the Savior of the world. I wonder if Mary really ever knew to the fullest extent of just what a service to mankind God allowed her to do. What service is God allowing you to do in your life for Him? Are you willing to make the kind of sacrifice that Mary made to serve God? I also wonder if we are made of as strong of stuff as Mary was.

The Harvest

A Blast From The Word by Sandra Rhynes

Revelation 14:15
And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, "Thrust in your sickle and reap, for the time has come for you to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe."

"The Harvest"

The fields are white with harvest.
Oh, who will He find to go?
The fields are white with harvest.
Be ready for those you know.
The fields are white with harvest.
Tell the strangers also.

It's up to us to spread the Good News,
How the Harvester will come.
In a twinkling of an eye He will be here
And the harvest will be gone.

The clouds stand ready to bring Him
Are you ready to ascend?
Jesus, the Harvester---You the harvest,
He's coming back again.

Today make election sure you are ready to meet the Lord should He call for you.

"Thanksgiving Day"

A BLAST FROM THE WORD
By Sandra Rhynes
“Thanksgiving Day”

Revelation 21:5 Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

Don’t you just love new? Now, keep in mind, I am talking from a woman’s heart here. New shoes, new dress, new car, new house, just new, new, new. Oh, you guys quit rolling those eyes. Let me see----new gun, new boat, new fishing rod, new motorcycle, new camo. Seriously folks, there is coming a day when All things will be new. Talk about a Thanksgiving Day! Everyday will be Thanksgiving, forever and ever. We will have all eternity to be thankful. The things I previously named are trivial. We won’t be thinking about “things” on that day. Whatever Jesus says is true and faithful. You can take it to the bank and when He says there will be a new heaven and a new earth and free water of life; that is just what He means. I want you to know, I just can’t wait for that glorious city. I not only want to drink that water of life, I want to jump in it and be immersed in it. I want to run to Jesus and hold on to His precious feet. Jesus also said, “I will be their God and they will be my people. Makes me want to shout! This old clay is going to give way to glory. Oh, to be in His presence!

To Him Who sets on the throne and unto the Lamb, be blessing and glory and honor and power forever----O Lord we fall before you with thanksgiving. We bless your Holy Name. Amen

"Big Ears"

A BLAST FROM THE WORD
By Sandra Rhynes
“Big Ears”

Revelation 2: 10-11 ….Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of Life…He that has an ear, let him hear……

Maybe you are reading this today and you have gone through unspeakable things in your life. Maybe you are going through those unspeakable things now. I am here to tell you, it doesn’t matter what you are going through. We serve a Living Savior, who cares about those unspeakable things. He cares about everything about you, small or great. God provided David with the power to kill Goliath and He will provide you with that same power if you will let Him. Open up your ears and hear what the Lord says to you. Jesus will always speak if your have your ears on. We will receive a crown of life---a crown of LIFE. With Christ we will live for eternity in His presence. Be ye faithful!

Lord of all eternity, I love you supremely. Keep my ears and heart open to what You have to say to me. I want to listen to everything You have to say. Help me to stay in Your Living Word. Give me understanding according to Your Word. Thank you for Your power and peace that passes all understanding. I will be faithful unto death. Amen

"Call 911"

A BLAST FROM THE WORD
By Sandra Rhynes
“Call 911”

Psalms 91:15
He shall call upon Me and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.

Actually I would like for you to read all the verses in Psalm 91:1-16. There are so many promises in these verses. When I read them, I feel humbled. We are so unworthy and He loves us anyway. I admit, I don’t understand this kind of love, but I sure do like it. Sometimes we have a real problem with talking to the Lord. We get so wrapped up in our daily lives, we forget about Jesus and we forget to pray. If everything is good and things are looking up for us, we think we don’t need Him. We treat Jesus like a 911 emergency number and only call on Him when we need Him. I can tell you now---He will stick closer to you than a brother or sister. He is only a thought away. Peter got out of the boat to walk on the water and he started to go under, he spoke three words, three words, that’s all. He said, “Jesus save me.” Our Lord reached down His hand and pulled Peter up out of the water. Of course Peter walked with Jesus everyday and knew Him. He knew Jesus was his only hope. We can have that same relationship with Jesus. He is no respecter of persons. He love us just as much as He ever did Peter and always will. He wants us with Him for all eternity. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am soooo thankful we DO have Him for the emergencies as well. Let us not keep Him tucked away in our pocket only to call 911. Let us praise and worship and talk to Him everyday.

Lord of all creation and even me, I come to You with a thankful heart. I am humbled by Your unconditional love. Draw me close to You. I trust You with my very life. Help me to talk to You and walk with You everyday from this day forward. Thank You, Lord for always coming to me in time of trials and trouble. Amen

"Proof"

A BLAST FROM THE WORD
By Sandra Rhynes
“Proof”

Psalms 62:6-7
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. 7 In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God.
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
There are so many “Christians” that ask this question. “How do I know and how can I be sure I am going to heaven.” They live in daily fear and uneasiness about their destination. You know, there is only ONE WAY that the Bible states is the way. John pretty well sums it up without question. By the way of Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God. I have had several people ask me this question in the past few days. Is this a sin or is that a sin and so on. I tell them to read this scripture in Galatians 5:22-26. This scripture names the works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit. If we stay just as close to Him as we can possibly be, then and only then, are we on our way to heaven to live and reign with Him forever and ever, without end. And then even all of those “gray areas” will be taken care of. I might ask you how you know you are your Father’s son? You would tell me it is because of the name on my birth certificate---enough said---it is all in the Name, the Name of Jesus. Signed, sealed, delivered I am His. I shall not be moved. It is forever settled in my mind. I will not turn back. As for me, I will serve the Lord. I am on my way to heaven. Should the trumpet sound before I finish this devotion, I am out of here.
Holy Lord, the God of my Salvation, I want to be sure I am on my way to live with You in heaven. Increase my faith and my hunger in you. Keep me safe in Your arms and the apple of Your eye. I believe and trust in Your saving grace. I trust You, because of who You are, to keep that which I have committed unto You against the day I am with You. When I worry about going to heaven, I will turn and run to You, the Author and Finisher of my faith. I thank You, Father that You are no respecter of persons. I am thankful that whosoever will can come to You. Praise God that means me. Amen

"Jesus Sees You"

A BLAST FROM THE WORD
By Sandra Rhynes

“Jesus Sees You”
Matthew 5:1-2
1 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them,

Oh, the compassion of Jesus!! The eyes that looked upon the crowd that day were the eyes of love and compassion. I would have loved to have been right there on the front row. No matter where you are, Jesus sees you. He has seen the multitudes of people from the beginning of time. From this crowd at the “Sermon on the Mount” to the---woman at the well, to the---12 disciples, to the---leapers, to the---feeding of the 5 thousand, to the---blind man at Bethsaida, to the---little woman with the issue of blood, to the---tax collectors and sinners, to---raising of the dead, to the children---to Nicodemus who was afraid and came to Jesus by night, even to the---soldiers who mocked Him on the cross---AAAALLLLLLLL the way to you and me---He has compassion. Whatever you are going through now or have been through in the past or are fixing to go through in the future, Jesus knows all about all of these things. He is ever present, ever knowing and He never sleeps or slumbers, which means, when you go to bed at night you can sleep in peace. Jesus has got you covered. He’s got your back. And to top it all off---He has conquered the grave!! Praise God!!!!!

Lord Of All, thank you because of who you are. I praise your name. I am so glad You see all things and know all things. Help me to have Your compassion on others. In Your word, You said I am the “salt of the earth and the light of the world.” I want to be that to the ones You died for. I can’t imagine how You felt on the cross with the sins of all humanity weighing so heavy on Your shoulders. Help me to be Your hand extended to reach them. Give me Your eyes to see others as clearly as You see them. I want to win the lost at any cost. I want to be among the ones You are raising up for the “end time harvest.” Amen.

His Pleasure

“His Pleasure”
Psalms 37:4
“Delight yourself also in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
Ephesians 1:5
“…having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.”

“According to the good pleasure of His will.” It was Jesus’ pleasure to give His life for our sins. He lay down His life freely. He calls us His friends. You know, it is your pleasure to do good things for your friends. To call them, cook for them, have them in your home, just anything you can do for your friends gives you pleasure. Jesus said if we will keep His commandments and serve Him delightfully, then it is His pleasure to give you the desires of your heart. All our spiritual blessings flow down to us from that stream. Oh, how we should prize this glorious gospel and to bless God for it! His delight and pleasure is the light shining in a dark place, for which we have reason to be thankful. To be in union with Jesus is a great privilege. Every morning when we arise and every night when we sleep, we should thank Him for His supreme sacrifice and love.

Most loving Father, thank You for Your undying love and forgive me when I don’t live for Your pleasure. Help me to pleasure You in all that I do. Thank you Father for the many, many blessings above my needs. Amen

Me and My Shadow

By Sandra Rhynes

“Me and My Shadow”
ACTS 5: 15
Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.
That Peter, he was a different individual. He could walk on water. He could lay hands on the sick and they were healed. Even his shadow healed them. He could preach the gospel and thousands of people came to Christ. There were so many people that needed healing that they laid the sick on beds and couches. They just lined them up, hoping even Peter’s very shadow would go over them as the sun shone. The sick had that much confidence in Peter. Multitudes of people came from other cities as well. Can you imagine! All that came were healed…ALL! There were many signs and wonders done among the people. In fact Peter was just a fisherman that answered the call of Jesus on his life. He was no different from you and me. Soooo…how did Peter walk on water, how did Peter heal the sick, what made multitudes believe when Peter preached? He had been with Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God! Peter answered the call. Even though earlier he had denied Christ. He loved Jesus with his very life. Yes, Peter messed up. Peter repented—obeyed—then—said “ yes Lord.” Have you been with Jesus enough that others can see Jesus in you? Have you been with Jesus enough that just your shadow heals? I don’t know about you, but, my shadow has not healed anyone yet. All the people that are healed, all the people that are saved, all of the miracles that are done are in fact from the One and Only—Jesus Christ. Knowing that He alone is the Power and all of these things are done by Him---then--what about Peter or me or you? The Lord still works through His people. We are His hand extended. The difference is some saints of God are fearful. Then you have some that don’t want to say yes to the Lord for their calling. They want to be just close enough to Jesus to feel good and do their duty. I challenge you to stay in tune with Jesus long enough to hear your calling. It is time that we as Christian people step up to the plate and be the “Peters” of our age. Stay in the presence of Jesus and obey His voice. Jesus will do the same for you as he did for Peter and the other apostles. Listen to His voice and trust Him. The congregation of today is just as needy as the ones back then. “Greater works shall ye do.”

Lord and Savior, I come to you on bended knee, show me the way. Show me my calling. Give me the same boldness that Peter had. I say yes to You, Lord. I love You with my very life. Amen

"Words"

A BLAST FROM THE WORD
By Sandra Rhynes

“Words!”
Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Proverbs 16:24 Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.
They were arguing, I could hear them from another room. These two scriptures came to my mind. You know, nothing stirs up anger and sows discord like grievous, hot words. A right cause will be better pleaded with meekness than harsh words. What is in the heart directs our words. Let us speak words of Life and Blessings to each other. Pleasant words from a wise heart teaches and adds learning. Also, the good word of God is a means of spiritual strength. Words that we say are like squeezing out too much toothpaste---you can’t put it back in the tube.

Father God, in Your precious Son’s name I come to You. Let me speak life into others. Take control of my words. Teach me from Your Word. Help me to think before I speak. Let me not forget the “Golden Rule.” Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you. Amen

Stale Bread

A BLAST FROM THE WORD
By Sandra Rhynes
"Stale Bread"

John 6:35 And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger and he who believes in Me shall never thirst."

My husband wanted hotdogs for supper. I was sure I already had some buns and would not have to fight the "after work" women in the check out line. While looking for these buns I came across a package of hotdog buns that were not good. They were molded and stale. You know you can’t make great hotdogs out of stale and moldy bread. My thoughts went to Jesus as the bread of life. The bread from Him will never be stale. We can feast on Jesus anytime, anywhere, on any day or night. Don’t you want to keep your Christian life from getting "stale"? You wouldn’t, by choice, eat stale bread yet at times we don’t feed our souls and spirits the nourishing-fresh word of God. We just plug along on yesterdays "meal" and "eat" any old junk food that happens to come along. We just watch any old thing or read any old thing that comes along. Soon our Christian living becomes "stale" and "dry." We are too in a hurry sooooo we just grab any old thing to fill our souls and spirits. We need to take time to feed on the real Bread Of Life and drink the real Living Water. This Bread that is always fresh and the Water that is always clear and pure. J-E-S-U-S! J-E-S-U-S! J-E-S-U-S!
Lord and Savior, Forgive me for being so busy. Help me to take time to read Your word and pray. Not just to ask for my needs, but, to be thankful and to praise and worship You. I thank you Father for Your forgiveness and mercy. In Your name I pray. Amen

Your Phone Call

A BLAST FROM THE WORD
By Sandra Rhynes

“Your Phone Call”

Isaiah 43:1…Fear not for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name, you are mine”…

Hello, This is Jesus…

I am your King of Kings calling you about an important message here in the heart of Heaven. Sending you an invitation.

I was crucified for your sins, rose from the grave on the 3rd day and I am sitting at the Father’s right hand.

Soon He will tell Me to make the trip and bring you home to Us.

I want to extend a humble invitation to my children that I have known for a long time and to you who have not met Me yet. Come call on Me, you are Mine as well.

I am preparing a place and a supper for you. I look forward to seeing you and I can’t wait for you to come to My wedding table.

Bye for now, Jesus

As A Little Child

A BLAST FROM THE WORD

By Sandra Rhynes

“As A Child”

Matthew 8:27
The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey Him!”

There has been a lot of conversation about Hurricane Ike, and rightly so. While watching all the newscasts, I noticed something; they wanted you to see all of the worst scenarios. Understanding that hurricanes are catastrophic and you do worry. The disciples were also worried when they saw the waves coming and felt them rock the boat, so much that the water was splashing in the boat. Storms are unpredictable things. Then I began to see a different picture. The one with someone standing up in the very storm they were afraid of. Jesus knew the disciples didn’t have anything to worry about. He knew in the midst of the storm, He was about to change their life forever. Just the sound of His voice calmed the wind and the waves. I like to think this was maybe hurricane wind and waves. If He is the Lord of all, and He is, then it doesn’t matter what kind of storm. He is Lord of hurricane wind and waves as well as a delicate spring rain shower.
My two-year-old granddaughter loves Bob the Builder. She thinks Bob can fix anything, “just give him a call.” We have this broken acoustic guitar. It stays behind the closet door. She happened to spy that guitar and wanted to play it. I told her it was broken. She looked up at me with the look of wonderment that only a child possesses and said, “Gamma, Bob can fix it.” She got up went to the phone; punched the buttons and said, “Hello Bob, come fix my gamma’s guitar.” She then put down the phone and went on her merry way. It was forever settled in her mind; worry was over. She had gotten hold of THE ONE, the one who could “fix” anything. The Bible says we can’t even enter Heaven without the faith as a little child. I believe it is not only faith---it is a knowing, a knowing of the “ONE” who “even the winds and the waves obey Him. Do you have a “hurricane” in your life that needs calming? Call on Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God! Forever settle it in your mind and heart…He Is The One and Only! Amen!

Lord of the universe, let me see You as the One and Only. Thank You for the many, many blessing above my need. Calm my storms and restore peace to my soul and spirit. Take control of my mind and replace it with Yours. Amen

In The Flesh

A BLAST FROM THE WORD
By Sandra Rhynes

“In The Flesh”
Job 19:25,26 & 27
25 For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth; 26 And after my skin is destroyed, this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God, 27 Whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!

Poor Job! He went through sooooo much. He really hit rock bottom. He had no family, no friends, no health and no money. In fact, He was so sick with boils that He took a piece of pottery and scraped his sores. This situation looked like it was more than Job could stand. Wonder why Job didn’t just curse God and die? These scriptures tell us why. Job knew God was going to take care of him----no matter what. Job said, “Though God slay me yet I’ll trust Him.” If he died, he would be (in the flesh) with his Redeemer, his Savior, the One he loved and worshiped. The One he trusted with his very life and the life of his family. If he was healed, then he would be thankful and go on and serve his Beloved until the time came to go to his heavenly home. Whatever way life went down…….Job would hold on to the One who has the last say. Sounds like WE are winners either way. Oh my goodness, what a promise. We (with our own eyes) shall behold Him in all His glory! Does your heart yearn within you to see Him?

Jesus my Beloved, thank You for loving me. Thank You for your tender mercy and grace. I know I will see You in my flesh. Thank You for the promise of heaven. I trust You completely with my life and my family and my unsaved loved ones. I yearn to be with You just as Job yearned the same. Amen

He's Still God

“He’s Still God”
Psalms 8:9
“O Lord, our Lord how excellent is your name in all the earth.”

You know friends, the Lord is sooooooo good. I sure do love Him. The greatest favor ever showed to the human race, and the greatest honor ever put upon human nature, were exemplified in the Lord Jesus. We serve, love, worship, praise and call on the name of the Lord because of who He is-----not because of what He can do for us. It doesn’t matter what is going on around us, He is still the same God. He hasn’t changed just because we have changed or the people around us have or the seasons have or the president has or our circumstances have. He is still the same God. He can be depended upon all the time. Even in times of unsurety, “everything works together for our good.” Praise His Holy Name. On the other hand, because of who He is and our relationship with Him (Father and child) all of his benefits come along with the deal. We can go to Him with everything. Nothing is to large or to small for us to tell Him. He is never “bothered” with anything we bring to Him.

Lord of all, thank you so much for your love, mercy and saving grace. I know I haven’t done anything to deserve this. Who am I that you are mindful of me, that you hear me when I call? Who am I that You would bleed and die for me? I will bless Your name for evermore. Amen

"Gods Kind Of Church"

A BLAST FROM THE WORD
By Sandra Rhynes

“God’s Kind Of Church”
James 5:13-16
“Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
Does this scripture sound familiar to you? How about the place where these things happen most of the time? The answer is YES and the place is in the CHURCH! Although, they don’t always have to take place in the church house, most of the time they do.
I will always love my grandma, Jewel King; she was one of a kind. She believed in prayer and she trusted Jesus. When she was sick or there was an emergency or even if someone in the family needed prayer. She was Johnny on the spot for special prayer at the altar. Grandma King did not stay home when she was sick. She made more of an effort to get to church for that anointing oil and the laying on of the hands for healing. If she was happy, sick, well, sad or glad, she could not wait to get to the church. She and grandpa loved to sing about the love of Jesus. I want us to be that kind of church, a church where people can come for all kinds of prayer, a “hospital” church, if you will. A place where people can sing His praises, be anointed with oil, be among saints who know how to pray the prayer of faith, for salvation, for healing, for the hurting, for the down and out and anyone else who wants to come. We must open our arms and reach out to others. We must stand united in prayer, fasting, and love and let others know they can come to our church to meet Jesus and not leave in the same condition. And……..I think we are well on our way. Praise God.
Loving Father, thank You for a people who care, a people who love other people. I want to be like You, Lord. Let others see You in me. Help me to reach out to others the same way You did. Help me to have that same unconditional love and passion. In Your precious name I pray. Amen

Dive In!

A BLAST FROM THE WORD
By Sandra Rhynes

“Dive In!”

Ezekiel 47:5
Again he measured one thousand, and it was a river that I could not cross: for the water was too deep, water in which one must swim, a river that could not be crossed.

My friend and I were discussing the Holy Spirit and how He works in the lives of people. Their church service Sunday had been wonderful and the Holy Spirit had fallen on the congregation and blessed the people, even some slain in the Spirit. While we were talking I began to see in my mind’s eye a vision of a large body of water and it was in motion. I begin to see someone swimming in the middle of this moving water. He was so joyful just swimming and swimming, like time had stood still and there was nothing or no one else in the world, just him and the water of the Holy Spirit. I started to see in my mind’s eye others so desperate for this water, so thirsty, so longing to be in there swimming, to be immersed in the Holy Spirit, to know the Holy Spirit that way and be so close to Jesus through the Spirit. His goal and works always point to Jesus. Every thing He does and everything you know about Him always describe and lead you to Jesus, always. Do you desire to be in that “water”? Do you allow the Holy Spirit to move in such a way in your life as to bring you so close to Jesus where time seems to stand still? Have you stepped into His chambers? I urge you to take the plunge and dive in, all the way in! Like a river glorious is God’s perfect peace.

Holy Jesus, thank You for the gifts and moving of Your Holy Spirit. I worship You supremely and You only do I serve. Keep me “swimming” in Your Spirit. Draw me Lord to You. I want to be close to You. Amen

"Listen and Obey"

A BLAST FROM THE WORD

by Sandra Rhynes

"Listen and Obey"

I Kings 19:11-12,13
Then He said, "Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord." And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. 13 So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him.

Sometimes we think that the Lord presence only comes in loud and strong. If He doesn't come in with a bolt of lightning or a wild wind, well, He just didn't show up. Let us not miss that small still voice of God. Let us not miss our opportunity to hear from Him anyway He chooses. He just might whisper your name and oh, don't you want to answer, "Here am I Lord, send me."
You might say, "well, how do you know it is God's voice?" "I have never heard His voice." " What does His voice sound like?" He has so many ways of speaking to us. Maybe it will be loud, maybe it might be in a whisper or maybe He might speak to you in a thought or through someone else or last but not least, through His word. He speaks to me some in dreams. The way to hear Him is to continue in prayer and fasting, reading His Word, and be ready. When He needs for you to hear Him---believe me---you will definitely hear Him. How ever He chooses to speak, stay tuned! THEN----Be READY TO OBEY!

Lord of heaven and earth, speak to me. Keep me ready and hungry. Let me be a vessel that you can use for your service. Help me to stay in tune to You. In Your Word, You said that Your sheep know your voice. I want to be that sheep. I want to hear Your voice. In Your name, I ask for You to speak to me. Amen

"The Beginning"

A BLAST FROM THE WORD
By Sandra Rhynes

“The Beginning”

John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.

Have you ever thought about the beginning of Jesus (the Word)? This verse clearly states He was in the beginning with God and is equal to God in power and deity. Nothing is more important in our Christian experience than understanding who Jesus is. In the Gospel of Matthew, he gives us the assurance that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecy. Matthew reveals Jesus as the Messiah, the One who forgives our sins. Matthew gives insight into the incredible way Jesus lived and loved. In Mark, over and over again he uses the word “immediately”. Mark was clearly fascinated by the Man, Christ Jesus. He focused on the Savior as a servant. Dr. Luke gives us the most descriptive account of the life of Christ. He draws our attention to the needs of people and how Jesus went out of His way to be responsive to them. Luke records not just the data, but he laces the details with insight and meaning so that we find great comfort in the One we love and serve wholeheartedly. The Gospel of John gives the basics of our faith. It reveals a true picture of our loving Lord. In John 20:31 it says: “These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and that believing you may have life in His name.” That in a nutshell, is why the Gospel of John is invaluable. And I ask you the question Jesus asked Peter, “Whom do YOU say that I am?”

Loving Savior, Bathe me have a hunger to read Your Living Word. Give me understanding as I read and delight in Your Word. As I understand, help me to apply Your Word to my life. Help me to live such a life that pleases you. I love you Lord. Thank you so much for the many, many blessing above my needs. Amen

Drinking Water

John 4:14 Whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst’ but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Oh, to always have spring water to drink. Spring water is so refreshing and cool. Always springing up and always fresh. If only one drink would be all you would ever need and you would never need another drink of water. In truth we need water several times a day every day. We don’t like to be thirsty. Water when you are really thirsty is the best. I know of water that will satisfy and you will never be thirsty again. This water is soooo amazing. My water is a living water. This spring of living water is in Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God. He has secret and undiscovered water. This fountain of life is hid with Christ. He has enough for all of us even though we don’t see it. But, if we ask for His Living Water, He is faithful and just to give it freely to us. He yearns to give us a big long drink of life. His fountain of living water is always bubbling up fresh and new, ever ready, ever in motion and never failing. Take a drink, my friend, take a drink from the springs of Living Water that will satisfy the soul and spring up into everlasting life!
Bless me oh, Lord, Bless me with this Living Water that I will never thirst again. I long to be at Your feet and drink. Like the woman at the well was weary and tired of the cares of life, I too am weary and so in need of Your satisfying water for my soul. Thank you, Lord for Your unconditional love and mercy. You and You alone are the one I call upon and serve. Amen
